The company today announced an innovative Silicon Vendor Partner Program
(SVPP) for the industry that provides Embedded Alley's silicon partners
the necessary competitive edge to capture Linux design wins. Program
members receive a Platform Optimized Linux Solution specifically
designed to showcase the differentiating hardware features of their product.
The Platform Optimized Linux Solution consists of an embedded Linux
development and runtime environment customized for the silicon vendor
hardware and requirements. The Solution may be freely distributed to the
silicon vendor customers, enabling them to accelerate their product
development with software already tuned and configured for the specific
platform. The SVPP also provides a customer portal, hardware
platform(s) added to the EA automated test lab for regular regression
testing, maintenance of the vendor optimized components, kernel, and tools
in the community source trees, and twice per year updates of the Platform
Optimized Linux Solution.
"The response to our SVPP from partners has been tremendous,"
said Pete Popov, President and Chief Executive Officer of EA
Solutions, Inc. "EA is really the first commercial company to develop a
Linux strategy for silicon vendors that is of significant value to
them."
"Our SVPP places us in direct contact with the silicon providers,
allowing us to couple the latest tecnology with the latest
open source software," adds Dan Malek, Chief Technology Officer
for EA Solutions, Inc. "In many cases, we are also involved in
the new silicon design process, providing a systems engineering
service to optimize the whole of the silicon and software,"
noted Matt Porter, Vice President of Engineering.
"When we started working on the program, we first asked ourselves
what will it take for our partners to secure Linux based designs in a
very competitive market space," said Matthew Locke, Vice President
of Business Development. "The result is a partner program that
will change the industry landscape as our partners start announcing
their major design wins."
Founded in 2004, EA Solutions has grown to include development
centers around the world, providing various embedded technology
development solutions for consumer, wireless, medical,
transportation and communication devices. From its headquarters
in San Jose, California, the privately held company serves clients
ranging from start ups to Fortune 500 companies.
